hello!
Welcome to the Misty Toadstool.
UNDOUBTEDLY CREATIVE, PASSION-FILLED CROCHET

So you’ve landed on The Misty Toadstool, welcome!
I’m Denise MacColl, owner and creator behind this small business.
I’m a 36 year old married, mother of five living in a small village on the West Coast of Scotland, a stone’s throw from The Isle of Skye.
I have always had creative hobbies but for the last six years, I’ve been an avid crocheter. I became self-employed selling my items in August 2016, mainly selling locally or through my facebook page but I’ve also had some of my items stocked in a local shop.
Following some life changes, I have rebranded and renamed my business making it more suited to me so The Misty Toadstool has my personality and passion entwined within its roots.
I feel content to have found that if you do something you love for a living you never work a day in your life, & I absolutely love to crochet!
Retreating to my craft room & bustling away on unique handmade items or gifts while taking in the idyllic view of the hillside bursting with nature from my window is one of the places I can be at my happiest & release all my creativity.
I will be sharing where I am with projects & the shop in my monthly newsletters, blog posts & on my social media pages so I can keep you up to date with all things yarn related, from new yarn purchases to completed custom orders.
Please enjoy your look around and do get in touch if there’s anything I can help you with.

“You’re so talented”
‘Thank you so much for my lilac unicorn. You went out of your way to source the lilac yarn I wanted! Then you spent time doing the curls in her hair. My wee boy loves the fact it’s a present from him to his wee sister when she arrives! You’re so talented xx’

Tiny Daffodils, Hats & Sunsets
It’s bright and sunny and this is the first day in so long that I’ve thrown open the front door and the windows and just let the air flow through the house. I had no idea how stuffy it had gotten. My husband finally got his operation - no more excuses not to...
Booties, Breathing & I’m out of Coffee
Happy New Year!I've spent a lot of time in my craft room since we returned from our winter break, finishing off projects, attaching my new labels and getting some much needed me time. I've been feeling a need to take some time just for me, which is not always easy...
Yule Log, Sweaters & Jack frost
December already?!Jack Frost has been etching on the glass outside the bedroom window for a fair few mornings now. Don’t you just love opening the blinds or curtains to the colours in the sky blurred behind the ice and frost? Every day lately has been a warm...
