Custom Orders
Are you taking any custom orders at the moment?
Custom orders slots, when available, will appear in the shop. If none are showing then they are all currently full. I will advertise on the website and social media when any new slots become available. A specific number of slots will be offered each month and only when one of those is completed will a new slot appear.
How long will a custom order take?
I’m aiming to only do a few custom orders a month so I also have the opportunity to focus on building stock for my website. Once you have been in touch with me regarding a custom order I will give you the estimated length of time I will take to complete the project. For example, a large blanket could take around 8-10 weeks while a soft toy would take a much shorter length of time, perhaps around 5-7 days.
How much is a custom order?
The price of a custom order will vary. If it’s only the colours you’d like changed from something on the website then the price would remain as listed. If it’s not an item on the website I will decide a price based on the patterns complexity level and any time/material requirements. A deposit will be required before I begin the project.
Items & Products
Are your items child-friendly?
All child-friendly items will be advertised as CE tested in the product description. If the item requested is a custom order not available in the shop then there will be an additional waiting time added as I will need to make an extra item(s) to be CE tested.
Is your home pet-free/smoke-free?
My home is entirely smoke-free. My craft room is 100% pet-free however we do have a puppy in the house.
What materials do you use?
I use only premium materials that I have used throughout my entire crochet career as I know that they are high-quality and long-lasting. These materials include yarn, buttons, safety eyes, rattles and stuffing. I often use yarn from indie dyers for something a little more unique.
Payment & Shipping
Do you offer a payment plan?
Absolutely!
There is a 50% non-refundable deposit to be paid, then you can pay the remaining however suits you best. Your item will be sent when the final payment has been paid.
How can I pay for my order?
I accept PayPal, cash and BACS (bank transfer).
How long does shipping normally take?
All items will be sent with first-class recorded delivery. A signature will be required on delivery and I will keep the proof of postage.
General
How often will your shop be updated?
The shop will be updated as often as I have stock or a custom order slot becomes available. I aim to add weekly on a Sunday evening.
How long does it take you to crochet something?
Hours. Lots and lots of hours. I’m a perfectionist so I cannot leave something. I have to undo and make it just as it should be. I take my time and because of this things take me longer than they should. I could never charge for my time, I do it because it’s my passion.
Were you previously Pink Hen Crochet?
I was indeed. I opened Pink Hen Crochet in August 2016. I was looking for something to fill my time and crochet seemed like the obvious option. My Facebook page took off very quickly and while I had intended to open an ETSY shop I was already so busy with custom orders that it was no longer necessary. In 2018, I was offered a job. Because of this, I had less time to crochet which led to me closing my page for an indefinite amount of time. Throughout this time I realised that while I loved my job and the people I worked with, the lack of being creative was having a detrimental effect on me. Due to life changes, the name ‘Pink Hen Crochet’ no longer felt suited to me so I rebranded and reopened in January 2020.
