It’s bright and sunny and this is the first day in so long that I’ve thrown open the front door and the windows and just let the air flow through the house. I had no idea how stuffy it had gotten.

My husband finally got his operation – no more excuses not to clean the windows!

I collected him from the hospital and this was the sunset on the way home, isn’t it just beautiful? I do love a sunset. That is definitely a highlight living where we do, the scenery is astounding. I love the colours, there is so much inspiration in the colours of the sky against the sea.

With it just being the two of us at home during the day at the moment, I treated us to a little rhubarb and custard cream from the village cafe (they are my absolute favourite treat!) and we sat in the garden eating them together in the glorious sunshine.

While being outside, I took the time to see how all my outdoor plants were doing after the various storms that have blown through. It’s so nice to see everything coming to life. The tiny daffodils are all open and enjoying the sunshine as much as I am. Spring is just around the corner and I’m so ready for a change in season just so I can be outside more (the joys of crochet – hot days take the hook to the garden).

What’s on the hook?

After many years of procrastinating, I finally began a Sophie’s Universe; a beautiful blanket designed by Dedri Uys. Each round of this blanket is made with the most wonderful texture. I’m loving my progress so far although I have decided that at the moment Sophies Garden is more than enough. I cannot commit the time required to create myself a Universe! I think they would be a pretty amazing cot blanket though only time will tell what it will become; I will be sure to share its progress.

What’s just off the hook?

I’ve spent the last few weeks busy on toys. I had my first two custom orders and while everything for toy making was on my desk I carried on with a few more Jules Giraffes and Roux Rabbits. For all the crochet I’ve been doing I should have plenty stock, but I don’t want to have too much stored away incase I run low on space.

What’s Next?

Hats. Many, many hats.

My friend Lindsey – Blue Moon Indigo – has asked me to design a hat in her beautiful ‘Islander’ yarn. My chosen colours are Old Gold and Grey. I love a good slouchy hat so with that in mind and one of my favourite places, Barleyport, I have a pattern forming in my mind.

The website is getting ever closer to completion – we are now discussing stationary… I do love stationary. It feels like everything that’s been coming together slowly is now in full swing. I’m so excited about the final decisions being made and the arrival of physical items for the Misty Toadstool is going to make everything feel so real and finalised.

So until next month Misty Toadstool fans, I shall say goodbye.
